  • Requirement Analysis, Research & Establishment of the “Brief”

The very first phase is dedicated in establishing a detailed understanding of the design requirements and objectives, to prevent any dilution in branding communication, messaging, positioning or functionality. This stage is also used to set expectations and define service levels. Research, analysis and understanding of the target market, need and demographics; usage pattern and scenarios; the competition; dynamics and functionalities of the product or service; various assumptions; marketing, branding and distribution strategies, priorities and perimeters – characterise this stage, leading to a comprehensive and practicable “design brief and direction”, to be used as a guideline for subsequent stages.

  • Concept Generation & Prototyping

This is the stage associated with our red-hot creative energies, exploration, experimentation, combinations, brainstorming, late-evening free-wheeling constructive arguments, design workshops and germination of out-of-the-box yet executable ideas. Result – conceptual designs, sketches, draft art-works, digital prototypes. Our designers do not mind getting their ideas shot-down more than once – it allows them the license and ammunition to come up with more alternatives and experiment with design forms, colours, shapes, fonts, structures, layouts, orientations, frameworks, ergonomics, copy, content, and renderings to give life to the “design brief”.

Resultant design concepts and prototypes are presented to our clients, amended and enriched based on their feedback, opinions and suggestions and on our experience and feasibility of execution. This process is iterative and culminates into final design validation and approval.

  • Pre-press Artwork and Digital Design Production

Once the prototypes are approved, we take them to the subsequent stages of full-blown artwork and design production, pre-press activities, followed by printing of samples (where printing is part of the project and the terms of service).Creation of print-ready artwork is the objective of this stage. This stage is driven by stringent processes, quality checks and detailed, diligent and careful handling of production to ensure complete adherence to the prototypes and conceptual designs. Our approach is that of zero tolerance towards defects when it comes to the print-ready digital output in terms of design, form, fonts, shape, colour, texture, layout orientation or content. The design process ends with the sign-off, after detailed review, confirmation and acceptance of the final ‘print-ready’ output.

  • Graphics & Print Media Design

This stage comes into picture, when the project spills beyond digital design into generation of print media and essentially consists of two sub-stages – Print Sampling and Final Print Run. Printing of Samples before the final run is required to ensure that expectations are being met, and to rule out chances of disappointments, wastages or escalations in project costs, after the final prints. This stage is always advisable, especially in cases of large print runs, as the cost of sample printing is far lower than the associated benefits. This stage may or may not throw up small adjustments, e.g. in lines, definitions, depths or clarity, etc. The samples are evaluated, signed off and go-ahead given for the final print run. The final prints – of marketing communication materials, branding collaterals or printed packaging, etc. are then produced, organised, packed and shipped to the client

  • Post-production Maintenance

This phase is an ongoing process, wherein our clients may wish to slightly tweak the design or the content, or may wish to re-work on the colour or orientation based on the new client demography they wish to address, for subsequent print-runs, without bringing in revolutionary changes in design.

The client may also wish to create different media of the same design, e.g. audio-visual, web, etc; or may wish to add in fresh developments or new products or services into the portfolio; or even bring changes in packaging dimensions, material or structure depending on new distribution strategies. All such alterations, modifications, upgrades and refinement are taken care in the design maintenance phase.
